What is Cannabidiol (CBD)?
Hemp contains naturally occurring compounds called cannabinoids. There are over 140 known cannabinoids that have been identified in hemp and these cannabinoids interact with the endocannabinoid system found in animals and in humans. Unlike the main psychoactive cannabinoid in marijuana, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD does not produce euphoria or intoxication in animals or humans.
What is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS)
Located in the brain and throughout the central nervous system, the endocannabinoid system consists of neuromodulatory lipids and their receptors. In each tissue, cannabinoids perform different tasks with the goal of maintaining overall mind and body balance.
CBD and Dogs
Cannabinoid receptors are found throughout the body and brain, and different receptors affect different functions. Some cannabinoid receptors affect sensation, some affect mood, some appetite and some work on the immune system. The function of the endocannabinoid system is to maintain a stable environment in the body.
While you should consult your veterinarian to know whether your dog could benefit from CBD or Glucosamine, many of our customers have told us that our products help their pets with pain, anxiety, appetite and hip and joint issues.
